- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and molasses until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla until fully incorporated.

- Roll the dough into balls and then roll in granulated sugar.
- Place on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
