  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, place the whole chicken and cover with chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add carrots, celery, and onions. Lower the heat and simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken and let it cool. Dice the meat into bite-sized pieces and return it to the pot.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Stir in milk until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter onto the simmering broth. Cover and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
