  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped dates and baking soda, then add boiling water. Let it sit until cool.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the date mixture.
  6. In another bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
  7. Fold in walnuts if using.
