- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- In a large pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened.
- Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, broth, and seasonings, and bring to a boil.
- Add broken lasagna noodles and simmer until noodles are tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella.
- Serve hot, topped with remaining mozzarella and fresh basil.
