  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup water, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup mixed dried fruit
  • 1/4 cup candied peel

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, yeast, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Shape into buns and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  6. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool and pipe icing crosses on top.

Notes

  • For softer buns, brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
