  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and brown sugar together.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the top.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and slice into 1-inch pieces.
  9. Place the cookie slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  11. To make the glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth, and drizzle over cookies after they have cooled.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or raisins to the dough.
  • Make sure to cool the cookies completely before adding the glaze.
