Black Forest Tiramisu

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup kirsch (cherry schnapps)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
  2. Add mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Combine brewed coffee and kirsch in a shallow dish.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and layer in a 9×13 inch dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.
  7. Add half of the cherry pie filling on top of the mascarpone layer.
  8. Repeat layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone filling, and cherries.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  10. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.

Notes

  • For best results, use high-quality chocolate and cherries.
  • Feel free to add shaved chocolate on top for extra indulgence.
