- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices of your favorite bread
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes for garnish
